Located on the Southern coast of Shandong, Qingdao is an old port city and a quaint and popular spot for travelers and sun seekers. With a total area of 10.645 square kilometers and a total population of 6.95 million, Qingdao, in fact, is one of the most important economic cities and is the fourth largest port in China.

Lying between mountain and sea, Qingdao has a monsoon climate of North Temperate Zone with featuring a marine climate, such as moist air, abundant rainfall and four distinctive seasons. It is neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter. The annual average temperature is 12.2℃. The hottest month is August with an average temperature of 25℃ and the coldest month is January  with an  average  temperature of  1.3℃. The annual average rainfall is 775.6 millimeters. There are many tourist attractions in Qingdao, such as Shilaoren National Holiday Resort, Mount Laoshan National-level Scenic Area and Mashan National-level Natural Reserve. The Seaside Scenic Area has beautiful scenery and a variety of well preserved classical European style architecture. The seaside Sculpture Garden and Sculpture Street in the eastern part of the city are now established tourist attractions. There are many events, such as the Qingdao Foreign Economy and Trade Fair, the Qingdao International Beer Festival, the Love of Sea Festival, the Cherry-blossom Festival and Summer of Qingdao are held each year, entertaining thousands of visitors both home and abroad.

Qingdao is also a major financial and foreign trade city in Shandong province. Some of the local companies, such as Haier, Hisense, Tsingtao Brewery and Aucma, are widely recognized. Qingdao has established practical and extensive connections with foreign countries and overseas organizations for economic cooperation and exchange, resulting in a stable increase of business involving foreign economy and trade. In addition, the Tsingdao beer, produced locally from the pure Laoshan water, attracts many visitors. Every year, the Beer festival is a great time to visit.
